Over the past year, we have planned and executed the expansion of our Guilford hospital, doubling its size to an impressive 10,000 square feet. This project aims to enhance our ability to serve the community by providing increased space to accommodate more patients and a thoughtful layout to better serve our clients and patients.

Take a tour of the newly designed Central Hospital – Guilford!
After watching our video tour you will learn about several new features to our hospital. Here is a list of some of those new features.
- Increased hospital size from 5k to 10k square feet.
- Large waiting area with separate sitting cubicles for added privacy.
- Doubled our number of exam rooms from 4 to 8.
- Tripled our Internal Medicine space.
- Separate treatment areas for ER and ICU.
- Designated cat ward and isolation ward with its own vestibule and yard for patients.
- 2 full sized oxygen tanks that can house up to 4 patients.
- Designated endoscopy and procedure room.
- New turf patient yard
- Increased safety around the hospital is ensured with key fobs allowing only employees access to certain areas.
- Two newly paved parking lots provide safe and easy access to the hospital entrance for our clients.
- Our pharmacy now features the latest Cube-X technology to dispense medication safely for both staff and patients.
- Increased security with the addition of key fobs.
- Many new kennels and patient beaches for comfort.
- Surgical wing with 2 surgical suites and prep rooms.

Construction continues and everything is seemingly on time! We will need to go curbside service once again this Saturday, August 10, while finishing touches are done in our lobby.
On Saturday, August 10:
- 1. Once you have parked, please call 203-533-6444 to check in.
- 2. A Technician will triage over the phone and take your pet into the building.
- 3. Once the team is ready for your pet, we will escort you to an exam room.
June 25, 2024
Curbside service only on June 26 and June 27. This week our old front desk is being demolished. There will be no access to the waiting room. On Wednesday and Thursday clients will need to call ahead from their cars in our parking lot. We will need to operate curbside for the most part. Clients can be walked into the building through the employee entrance to be put into exam rooms.
When you arrive at Guilford:
- 1. Once you have parked, please call 203-533-6444 to check in.
- 2. A Technician will meet you at your car to triage and take a history.
- 3. Once the team is ready for your pet, we will escort you to an exam room.

Yesterday we moved into the newly constructed half of our expansion! What a success! ER operations are back up and running.
May 23, 2024
On Wednesday, May 29 Guilford will be closed to all incoming emergencies from 6am to 8pm while the team moves into the newly renovated side of the hospital. Our hospitalized patients who entered the hospital prior to this time period will be able to stay in ICU for treatment.
Once the layout shift is complete, we will be back to receiving emergencies as usual.
The complete expansion will be complete in September and we do not foresee an ER diversion needed for then at this time.

May 22, 2024
Guilford team has started to relocate items to the finished construction zone. As they set up there, construction will begin on the unfinished 5k SF section while operations will continue as normal on the finished zone.
May 8, 2024
In just a few weeks, the first phase of this expansion will be completed. Our departments and teams will relocate to the finished area, allowing construction to proceed with the final 5,000 sq foot section. We anticipate that the entire project will be finalized in September 2024.
ON THE DAY WE MOVE INTO THE ADDITION:
- Guilford will be on diversion and closed to any incoming emergencies for a period of time.
- We will be communicating our diversion and reopening with you all here, on our website, and with our referring veterinarian colleagues in the area.
